Pub Training & Licensing

Recognising that effective training is crucial towards running a successful pub business is the first step you need to take.  Most pub companies offer their own in-house induction courses which you will be asked to attend.  However, there are other requirements which will help you get ahead of the game and not miss out on the opportunity for your desired pub.

Getting your Personal Licence

It is the law in the UK that anyone authorising the sale of alcohol to the public must hold a personal licence, and in order to qualify for a personal licence, an applicant must hold a relevant licensing qualification, such as the BIIAB NCPLH (England/ Wales) or SCPLH (Scotland).

FindMyPub.com is proud to work with the Alliance of Quality Licensing Trainings, the UK’s  five largest suppliers of training leading to BIIAB qualifications. They have formed an Alliance with the purpose of setting the highest possible standards in the delivery of public licensing training. With national coverage there is a training centre near to you to take this first crucial step towards getting your first pub.  With competitive rates and a 95% pass rate they really are the one to choose.  Visit their website here

Once you have obtained your training certificate you must apply for your Personal Licence, this can be done either with your local council direct or alternatively you can use one of the licensing specialists in the UK. Findmypub.com recommend using Poppleston Allen who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in this field. For more information please click here.

Pre-Entry Awareness Training (PEAT)

BII’s Pre-Entry Awareness Training (PEAT) is an e-learning programme that identifies the main issues which need to be considered and investigated before signing a pub tenancy or lease agreement in England or Wales. The programme covers topics such as the tied pub model, the different types of agreements available, rental calculations, the legal consequences of breach of agreement and much much more. Most pub companies will require prospective tenants and lessees to undertake BII’s PEAT. For further information below.
