Over 200 years, around 2,700 pubs – and an award-winning brewery
As the country’s leading pub retailer and brewer, Greene King brews a wide range of award-winning beers and operates managed, tenanted and leased pubs across England, Wales and Scotland from our headquarters in Bury St Edmunds.
We’ve had over two centuries to perfect the arts of brewing and inn-keeping since 19-year-old Benjamin Greene founded the company in 1799. Highlights of our rich history include: creating a special beer to celebrate Edward VIII’s coronation which no-one got to enjoy as he was never crowned; taking over the now-famous “Old Speckled Hen” premium bitter, named after the old, paint-spattered factory car at MG in Abingdon; and acquiring Old English Inns’ charming, historic pubs and Loch Fyne’s fish and seafood restaurants.
Today we offer fulfilling careers and business partnerships as well as unbeatable food, drink and hospitality, and run extensive training and development programmes to turn our prospective tenants into true ‘partners’. If you’re looking for your first pub business or your next pub opportunity, our current ARE YOU INN? campaign will find the perfect pub for you and give you all the support you need to make our partnership a success.
