Abergavenny is a large market town and community in Monmouthshire, Wales. The town of Abergavenny is promoted as a gateway to Wales and is located on the A40 trunk road and the A465 Heads of the Valleys road approximately 6 miles from the border with England. Abergavenny is a bustling town with a wide variety of shops and markets along with attractions for both locals and tourists. The pubs sits on the edge of the town Centre on a busy crossroads, with Baileys park directly behind the pub which holds various local events throughout the year. The population of the town is estimated at 12,500.
On entering from the main doors, you are greeted with a spacious wooden panelled bar which is well stocked with an array of spirits, larger and cask ale. The left-hand side lends itself to a sports area with a pool table, darts board and plasma television. To the right-hand side of the bar is a carpeted area with fixed seating and low tables and chairs and has a more relaxed bar feel. It still retains original wooden beams and stone walls. The kitchen can be accessed directly from the bar area.
Externally there are several picnic benches along with a car parking for four cars
The Bailey pub trades predominantly to the immediate local community but has considerable potential to develop trade further by introducing a food offer for both locals and passing trade and those using the park to the rear. The site benefits from a purpose-built kitchen which is currently under-utilised and does not take advantage of the opportunity that exists. The location on a busy junction also provides a strong opportunity for marketing with continuous passing pedestrians and traffic throughout the day.
The pub is very much a traditional locals pub catering in the main to the local community but with the ability to attract custom from further afield, dependent on providing an offer that will encourage destination custom through food end entertainment offers. The successful applicant will need to embrace the local community. Team sports, regular entertainment and building a weekly program of events will be essential in driving the pub forwards. The site benefits from a catering kitchen, which is underutilised and offers the potential to introduce a food offer which would capture further local trade and encourage passing and tourist trade.
The Private accommodation consists of three bedrooms, sitting room, bathroom and kitchen.
