The Chequers is an attractive village pub located in the Cambridgeshire village of Pampisford. The pub is very traditional in style and is open plan with a single bar with a small but excellent garden area. The pub has been thoroughly looked after by the current licensees. As such it attracts a variety of customers through its doors, historically the pub has been a destination pub for walkers as well as guests from the area including in and around Cambridge itself. The pub dates back to the 16th Century and is the only pub in the village. Pampisford is a small affluent village situated seven miles south of Cambridge and close to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. It is located just off the A505 which joins the M11 about one and a half miles west of the village

On entering the Chequers through the rear entrance, which is located off the car park, you enter into the traditional bar area with low ceilings, oak beams and lots of character. The bar servery is on the right as you enter and the pub is relatively open plan in layout. The seating is mainly loose oak tables and chairs of a traditional style. As you go through the pub, there is another entrance opposite the bar which leads out to the road in front of the pub. Continuing with the bar on your right, there is a cosy snug at the back with fixed seating and a larger table. The trade kitchen is positioned behind the bar. There are approximately 40 dining covers throughout. The pub's toilets are located at the car park entrance to the property.

The car park has spaces for about six cars with alternative road parking in the surrounding village. Chequers has a well-kept beer garden at the rear of the pub, and it has a paved patio that leads out onto the grass.

Trading Style:

The Chequers is run as a traditional pub with great food, cask ales and a well-established trade. The food offer is quality traditional pub fayre, but due to the nature of the establishment, it is also a destination food site with more of a restaurant offer. Food is competitively priced, and of good quality, there is a Sunday carvery in place which requires booking due to demand. The split is about 60% in favour of wet and 40% food. There are four cask ale pumps in place with two staples and two rotating guests. The pub is child-friendly and is boosted with a friendly atmosphere from both the current licensee and the locals.
