The Harrow is a charming 200-year-old village pub situated on the green and at the heart of the sought after village of Stockbury.

The village has a vibrant and active community and boasts a 900yr old church, village hall, playing field and cricket pitch, an award-winning farm shop and post office and a local garage. There are numerous well-attended clubs and societies in the village, including; Petanque, Pilates, Gardeners, Zumba, Dancing, Short Mat Bowls and the WI, all of which create a fantastic opportunity for passing trade.
The pub is located approximately five miles from the county town of Maidstone, with Sittingbourne equidistant in the other direction. It is also just three miles from the Kent County Showground and Event centre. There are excellent motorway links to the M2/M20. This picturesque pub had a refurbishment completed in 2017. While retaining its charm as a warm and welcoming traditional country pub, with stripped floors, inglenook and wood burning stove but with a contemporary twist.

The site also offers reasonably priced food at lunchtime and in the evenings with ‘specials’, themed and occasional gourmet evenings, attracting customers from the wider area. There is scope for expanding this aspect of the business using proactive communication with the 150+ shareholders, social media and the wider community. The pub hosts petanque, darts and cricket teams with occasional ad hoc sports such as rounders and tug of war.
The Harrow also hosts monthly game evenings and lunch clubs with regular quiz nights and coffee mornings as well as significant events such as Remembrance commemorations.
The ideal applicant(s) would be a couple who could share in front of house and kitchen responsibilities. The successful applicants should have experience of running a similar establishment and be keen to become part of the village community. They would also need to look at developing the strong links between the pub and villagers and take full advantage of the goodwill that exists to ensure it’s an ongoing success. The ability to provide good quality and varied food and drink is essential.
This consists of two large rooms at the front of the pub overlooking the green, currently used as a bedroom and a sitting room with two further smaller rooms to the rear currently used as a bedroom and an office. There is a bathroom with a separate WC
