As the top pub company for partners to work with (according to the Pubs Code Adjudicator Tied Tenant Survey 2023), and the original pioneer of partnership agreements, we really believe that we know what pub partners need to succeed better than anyone else. Our range of partnerships have arrived to show just that. Redefining our pub partner experience for the better.

Our partnerships reflect the uniqueness of our pubs and the personalities who run them. There’s something for everyone, whether you’ve never pulled a pint before, or you’re twenty years in the trade, we’ve flexed our partnerships to give you the support and freedom you need to grow a great business. With low ingoing costs, and British Institute of Innkeeping accredited training to set you up for success, this is the best way to get going.

We’ll be rolling out our new partnerships throughout 2024. We’ve developed a range to suit the variety of our pubs and bars estate – from family-friendly local hotspots offering an expertly developed Marston’s menu, to a more quaint country pub or a lively city centre bar.

Why partner with Marston’s?

Being a pub partner at Marston’s is an opportunity to help shape the future of your very own pub, deliver great experiences and connect with your local community. There are real benefits to choosing Marston’s for your first, or next pub partnership.

Your pub with our backing

Our different partnerships exist to share the risk and manage some of the biggest costs involved in running a pub, like utilities. This frees you up to focus on making the pub a success. We won’t expect you to have all the answers though, that’s why each partner has a dedicated Area Manager to guide them through the day-to-day. Our partners don’t do it alone. They have over 400 of our Pub Support Centre experts by their side behind the scenes too, including Marketing, Finance and Estates amongst many others.

Your earning potential

All of your stock (including food, where applicable), and all associated consumables are supplied by Marston’s, with the cost covered by our management charge. Although once delivered, you’ll take over responsibility. Depending which partnership you choose, you’ll also retain a 20-26% share of weekly sales, excluding VAT. Some partnerships also include an additional guaranteed retained sum. To further boost your finances, we even have a variety of incentive schemes – recognition from us to you, for helping us to achieve our business objectives.

How does the Agreement work?

Our agreement is a proven business model that is tried, tested and robust. It’s perfect for entrepreneurs who want to work in partnership with us to drive sales, standards and create memorable guest experiences.

  • In addition to the security deposit required (starting from £5,000), you’ll need to cover legal costs (£360 inc VAT), and your own insurance (except building insurance, which we’ll take care of). All of that covered? Now it’s time to start thinking about your team and the day-to-day; taking care of paying them and arranging all other employment matters.
  • Before we all sign the agreement, you’ll need to show us proof that you’ve had independent financial and legal advice and have completed a sustainable business plan, in accordance with the Pubs Code. And, of course, obtain your personal licence (a member of our team can help you book this course free of charge) and complete your induction training.
  • It’s a five-year commitment, so you have plenty of time to build your business and get it performing brilliantly but, if you want to leave early, we won’t make you stay. You have the option of giving us notice (three or six months depending on your agreement) to end the agreement.
