The Admiral Vernon is a landmark Grade II listed pub at 141 Broad Street, Dagenham, and one of London’s finest surviving examples of a 1930s Brewers’ Tudor inter-war pub. Largely untouched since it was built, the Vernon proudly retains its original character, from the separate public and saloon bars to the vine-pattern cornices and rich, original wood panelling throughout.
Beloved by locals as a lively music hub, the pub hosts The Vernon Jam every Wednesday, alongside regular live bands at weekends, creating a buzzing atmosphere that blends tradition with modern energy. Its authentic charm has even caught the eye of filmmakers, recently appearing as a location in Marching Powder, starring local favourite Danny Dyer.
Guests can enjoy a spacious beer garden, pool tables, sports TV, and the convenience of an on-site car park, making it a true community pub with something for everyone. The pub currently operates as 100% wet led (although there would be potential for a trade kitchen), and of that is heavily draught beer focussed.
Named after Admiral Edward Vernon (1684–1757) — the naval hero known as “Old Grog” who introduced diluted rum to the British Navy — The Admiral Vernon is a pub steeped in history, music, and unmistakable local character.

It currently comprises 11 bedrooms, three kitchens, three bathrooms, two separate toilets, and a private lounge, offering generous and flexible living space.
There is clear future potential to reconfigure the accommodation, subject to investment, to create an Airbnb-style letting operation. In addition, one of the existing kitchens could be repurposed as a commercial trade kitchen, presenting further scope to develop a food-led offer.
