The Cross Keys is a village pub in one of County Durham’s most desirable villages. Gainford is one of County Durham’s most attractive and sought-after villages, known for its strong sense of community and picturesque setting. The village hosts several popular annual events and community activities throughout the year, offering regular opportunities to engage with residents. Its position close to both the Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines also places the pub within easy reach of visitors exploring the wider area.

Inside, the pub is centred around a main bar and lounge area arranged across two levels, creating a distinctive layout full of character. Two additional rooms provide flexible trading space and currently lend themselves well to use as snug, dining or function areas. The pub’s décor is quirky and individual, with a mix of interesting design features and statement pieces that help set it apart from more traditional village pubs. A catering kitchen is in place, supporting around 30 covers and providing a solid foundation to develop a simple and consistent food offer.
