Property details
The Hare & Hounds is located in the centre of a beautiful village just a few miles to the south-west of the thriving city of Cambridge. You can take scenic circular walks from the village, combining woodland, farmland and great views - ideal for walkers.
This traditional English pub is in excellent condition, having recently been rethatched to a very high standard.
Internally, the pub is full of traditional character with a warm, relaxed atmosphere, serving a seasonal British menu and well-kept drinks. There is a wooden-beamed bar with a multi-purpose bar/restaurant area providing 30 covers, along with room for 6 bar stools. A range of cask ales is served from three hand-pumps, along with lagers, cider, and an interesting wine list. There is a fully equipped catering kitchen, a good-sized cellar, and a storage area.
Externally, the pub has 5 large tables at the front, and 20 tables in the rear garden, along with a sizable car park. The large beer garden overlooks rural pasture and is particularly attractive in summer.
The private accommodation is on the first floor, for use by the tenant or staff, consisting of four rooms which may be used as bedrooms/sitting rooms/office/kitchenette, with a shower room on the ground floor.

Trading style
The Hare & Hounds is a charming community-owned free-house. The pub was bought by the village community in 2017 and has been thriving ever since. It is currently open 7 days per week for drinks, and 5 days per week for food. With 160 shareholders, there is plenty of local support.
Local clubs and societies meet at the pub regularly. In recent years, there have been music events, an annual beer festival, and a weekly quiz night that always fills the pub.
The community is looking for an enthusiastic operator who will collaborate with the local community to create a convivial place to meet friends for drinks, combined with an offering of traditional pub food served to a high standard. While experience is important, they are equally interested in applicants who are seeking an opportunity to drive a successful pub forward to the next level, engaging with the customer base and community interest company to deliver outstanding service.
