Property details
The landlords are excited to introduce you to the Alexandra in Darwen! The landlords are investing a whopping £323,000 in the pub, which will transform both the internal and external appearance, making it the go-to community pub in Darwen.
The Alexandra is located in Darwen, a traditional Lancashire town within Blackburn. The immediate area is a residential neighbourhood made up largely of older terraced housing, with a strong sense of local community. It’s close to the town centre and Darwen railway station, giving decent links to bigger towns like Blackburn and Manchester, while also being near green spaces such as the West Pennine Moors. Overall, it’s an affordable area with good connectivity.
Step through the front doors, and you’re instantly immersed in the heart of a true, traditional pub, an open, welcoming trading space that sets the tone from the very first moment. Following its investment, the Alexandra will feel warmer, brighter, and more inviting than ever, designed to draw people in and keep them coming back. At the centre of it all sits a beautifully positioned bar, the true heartbeat of the pub. From here, everything flows effortlessly, with clear sightlines and quick, easy service creating a seamless experience whether you’re popping in for a pint or settling in for the evening. The main floor buzzes with energy, featuring a versatile mix of tables and chairs that flex perfectly from relaxed daytime drinks to lively social gatherings. It’s a space built for connection, full of character, comfort, and that unmistakable community spirit you expect from a Proper Pub. To the right, the atmosphere dials up a notch. This more vibrant zone brings added energy with extra seating and a dedicated games area at the rear, the perfect spot for sports teams and groups to make their home base, stay longer, and keep the good times going. To the left of the bar, things take on a more laid-back feel. These softer seating areas offer a calm contrast, ideal for quieter conversations, casual catch-ups, or simply unwinding with a drink in hand.
And it doesn’t stop there. Towards the front, the space flows effortlessly out into a thoughtfully designed beer garden, complete with bench seating and group tables. It’s a natural extension of the pub, perfect for sunny afternoons, social gatherings, and those longer, warmer evenings. With ample parking and a layout that truly offers something for everyone, the Alexandra isn’t just a pub, it’s a destination.
The Alexandra is a strong, community-led local designed to trade across multiple parts, maximising footfall from morning through to late evening. By day, it offers a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere for casual catch-ups and steady community trade, supported by easy access and friendly, efficient service. From late afternoon into evening, the pub transitions into a lively social hub, with the central bar driving strong after-work trade and flexible seating catering for both groups and couples. Evenings bring a more energetic feel, with games areas and sports-led zones encouraging dwell time and attracting teams and fans, while quieter seating areas provide balance for more relaxed visits. At weekends, the Alexandra becomes a true destination pub, blending social drinking, sport, and community occasions, with the beer garden adding a strong seasonal draw and extended trading capacity.
