The Dog & Gun is situated in the village of Kilby, six miles South of Leicester. It is a traditional village pub with long-standing reputation for good quality home-made pub food. It has a front bar (30), lounge/diner (50) toilets, catering kitchen, underground cellar and domestics across the first floor. At the rear, there is extensive parking (30) a beer terrace/patio and extensive beer garden/lawns. It is one of the best known village pubs in South Leicestershire which is located just off the A5199 Welford Road, between the M1 and the main A6 Leicester - Kibworth road.
The earliest part of this two roomed pub was built in the early 17th century. Overall, the pub has original exposed and gnarled ceiling joists and pictures depicting various sports. The front bar has a mixture of fixed and loose seating for 30 people with a large open plan fireplace which is a real attraction and brings in many customers throughout the winter. The extended lounge and dining room exhibits sports memorabilia and has approximately 50 covers within. The pub has three cask ales and an excellent range of draught lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.
At the rear of the pub there is one of the best beer gardens in the area, with great space and superb views it is the perfect place to be during the warmer months. In addition, there is a patio area with bench seating which is ideal for al fresco dining. The pub boasts a large and secure car park with space for over 30 vehicles.
The private accommodation is located on the first floor and accessed via an internal corridor within the pub. It has two bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and bathroom.
