Cask Ale
Trading style
The Malt Shovel is a great example of a community pub, it is well supported all year round with various sports teams, and weekly quizzes, and the pub provides a hub for local groups. There is scope for some regular weekend entertainment such as karaoke or singers. Wet trade is made up of recognisable brands with cask ale a great pull for the cask ale drinkers and a good stretch from value, standard, and premium. There is an opportunity to develop the food which has once been very successful.
This is a great example of a community-focused pub and would welcome a local person who is familiar with running a similar-style pub. A strong marketing plan is essential for ensuring the pub is busy seven days a week whilst continuing to work with local sporting teams.
