The Running Horses is based in Orrell which is a suburb of Wigan in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester, there is a population of approximately 11000, located just off the M6 with good rail links to Manchester it is a bustling community. Within the area are a number of primary and secondary schools with Sir John Rigby College to the northern edge of Orrell. To the south, there is Orrell Waterpark which has become very popular with walkers, fishermen and picnickers. The pub is situated in a great location with plenty of passing trade. When you walk into the pub you will see two smaller rooms to the left, one of which is a cosy seated area with a dart board and games machine, and the second is currently housing the pool table. From this area, you can access the kitchen and the gents toilets. The rest of the pub is a large open-plan seating area, with the bar being at the centre it is very welcoming and well-lit, offering a friendly atmosphere. There is plenty of both fixed and loose seating with eclectic furniture in keeping with the cosy style of the pub. This is a wet-led pub with the option of food, there is scope to develop a back bar snack menu and catering for events. Great selection of beers, lagers, cocktails, and spirits. Good rhythm of the week with various activities and events such as fundraisers, quizzes, and karaoke evenings with drinks promotions running. This is a heavily community focussed pub.
